ABOUT
Wecometofete launched in 2015 as a uniting of love between African-American and Caribbean communities and cultures. The Founder, Kaye Sweat, has been traveling to Caribbean countries for over 20 years and fell in love with the vibes.

2015 – We Come to Fete launched as “Diaspora Masquerade Dance Band” in Oakland, California. DMB brought a diversity of people to the 2016 San Francisco Carnival Parade. We shared the vvibes with over 400,000 parade goers and never looked back! Why Carnival?
“The vibes of being in a Carnival parade, giving your love and energy to those is hard to describe. It’s really an experience that you have to let yourself experience. More than just being there, it is about losing yourself in the vibes. As an adult, moments of pure joy like the years of our childhood are hard to find. I would say, the Carribean vibes of Soca Music on the Road, celebrating the vibrancy and colors of life is the adult equivalent. Come with me and I’ll show you around the playground of your life!”

2017 – DMB First Public Costume Launch
In 2017, DMB partnered with fellow masqueraders and dance companies throughout the SF Bay Area and hosted costume showings at multiple venues throughout Oakland and San Francisco.

If you’ve ever participated in a major event, you know there are inevitably snags. In 2017, the bold Warrior Costumes ordered came in with a dud. LOL Not to be deterred, DMB hosted our first Masquerader Costume Camp! Wings, bikinis, bedazzled belts and all. The squad came together determined to bring our good vibes to the roads of California Carnivals, Fetes and Parades.
Masqueraders dawned beautiful black, gold and purple costumes. We also performed in D’wayne Wiggins (Tony, Toni, Tone) First Annual Taste of Oakland Festival. We had a great time taking over the the Karaoke Bus with Sweet Soca Vibes! Wheeeeyyyyy!!! Mr. Wiggins enjoyed it so much, he joined us on the road to mash up San Francisco Pride Parade in front of 1.5 MILLION LIVE SPECTATORS!
By 2019, DMB had a reputation for bringing the vibes to every event we attend! We partnered with Afro Soca Love (Oakland, CA), Afrolicious Hair Expo (Oakland, CA), Mas Makers Massive (Oakland, CA) and our first corporate partner, Mr. Fixit (SF Bay Area Caribbean-Owned Construction Company) .
DMB also won our first award in the Richmond Juneteenth Festival. It was another adventure on the road! Ask any in the fete famalay for the deets! It was crazy, challenging , fun AND we walked away with a big trophy! WOI!!!
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, festivals, parades and events were canceled throughout the globe. In 2021, Diaspora Masquerade Band invested in new equipment, hired consultants and rebranded as “We Come to Fete.” While we loved the years of hosting trucks on the road and hosting community events, we learned that our heart is truly in the mode to bring our energy to enjoy the fetes and bring the vibes! We Come to Fete now organizes like-minded Fete Famalay across the world to attend only the best Fetes, Festivals, Parades and Events with the BEST VIBES!
